Exile Anne Osterlund Books

This was a much more adventurous and romantic book than her previous book, Aurelia. Robert has agreed to be her guide, but she was hoping for something more. He is taking her job of protecting her seriously and she can't understand why he is so strict with her. Robert believes there is still a threat to her life from her sister Melanie and he is not wrong. Not far into their adventure, Aurelia and Robert have to flee for their lives from their very own guards. As they travel together, Aurelia has a mental breakdown, meets her mother, learns about her people and their land, visits Robert's parents and is abducted by tribal people who try to kill Robert. All along the way, she wins people with her personality and sees what her father's rule has done to the country. She knows she has to go back and be Queen instead of letting her sister have her place. She also knows that she can't have Robert if she does and she has to make that decision.

This was a fast paced novel with the typical sexual tension and misunderstandings that make it fun to see what will happen next. There are romantic moments, but mostly they are just fleeing from assassins. It is on meeting her mother and seeing what she has become that Aurelia decides her own future. Another new thread is introduced as Valerian Suidek, heir of Valshone who is claiming "the Right" which is marriage to Aurelia. I'll admit his part was brief and not written well, but I expect him to play a major role in the next book, probably creating a love triangle.

This is the second in a trilogy, so the book has an ending, but it is not complete. I will definitely be buying the next in the series to find out what happens for Aurelia and Robert.

Exile Anne Osterlund Books Reviews

LOVED IT!!! I read this in a day (unfortunately when you have a baby you must do other things like sleep and such). I liked this even better than the first book, which I also loved.

Aurelia is still stubborn and headstrong, but she is learning that she can't always have her way, especially when she finds that she is still in urgent danger. Of course Robert has been trying to get her to understand this from the start. What he doesn't know is how dangerous things really are, not just for them, but for the entire nation and are about to get even worse. There doesn't seem to be safety for the crown princess anywhere and definitely none for his heart.

I'm a little worried how it will all end and am disappointed that I have to wait so long to find out!
Disappointing.

While I love a good love story, the characters seem to be moving from place to place for shallow reasons with no forethought or intelligence the only move that had a foundation was leaving the capital, and after all these other moves I question that she ran away when she was in the superior position as crown princess and a few more guards & training HER would have been wiser than the open road. From there on, each move gets more and more stupid, albeit well written. It feels like the author built no political or logical framework for them to go where they did how they did. The end being a crowning moment of this thoughtlessness.
Now that Aurelia is exiled from her kingdom with Robert as her guide she plans to go on an expedition of Tyralt. She is free from being crown princess only because her own sister was trying to kill her but she can't seem to escape her still. All Aurelia wants to do is meet the people of Tyralt and connect with them but she is constantly being hunted and her life is always in danger!

What a thrilling adventure!! I could not get enough of Aurelia and Robert! Right from the first chapter you are drawn in to the adventure that awaits them and the trials they encounter! Aurelia has her very own tour guide that she just can't help but to think about way too much even though he seems to be doing his best to ignore her!

I had no idea what to expect with Exile, all I knew I wanted was to hear more about Aurelia and her compassion for the people of Tyralt and to see what developed with Robert. Oh I was not disappointed at all! There were lots of moments where Anne just paints a very vivid picture of what I would expect for Aurelia and her encounters with her people. The scenes were all very realistic and there is so much mystery and suspense that unravels throughout the story that you have a hard time putting the book down!

The characters are truly lovable! Aurelia is passionate about everything which I love about her! She loves her people and she believes they need to be heard, she is passionate about her expedition and her beliefs! She speaks her mind and she grows up a lot on this adventure! Robert also is a great character; he is so protective of Aurelia and such a heartwarming man! He struggles with guilt about what happened with Chris yet I love the way he deals with all of this, including his feelings about Aurelia! Anne can write such emotionally connected characters that you really feel like you know them and are rooting for them to succeed!

There was nothing I dislike about Exile! The writing is wonderful, the story is unique; full of adventure, romance and mystery, and the characters are relatable! I recommend this for YA readers of any age!
